DREAM Charter Schools
We've remain committed to providing uninterrupted quality education to our scholars. Below we will aim to provide updates that pertain specifically to DREAM Charter School during the school closure.
DREAM CHARTEr school updates
DREAM’s current plans for the 2020-21 school year is to begin early, on August 24, and to plan for at least the first month of instruction to be remote. Here's what you can expect in the coming months:
Reopening health & safety: In early August, we will send all DREAM families a video that shares the health and safety precautions we'll be mandating across our schools when in-person return is possible. We know that the more we practice, the more ready we’ll be for a safe return.
Family Town Halls: In early August, we will host another Zoom family town hall to share our most recent updates and provide you an additional space to ask questions. This is where we will share when and how we will be able to reopen our schools in person.
Family orientations: Our Family & Community Engagement team and principals will lead orientation sessions to prepare you for the school year.
Family visits: We will continue our practice of family visits, but this time via Zoom. You'll have a chance to meet with a member of your school team so we can learn more about your child and your family. We’ll also talk about how we can best support your DREAM scholar.
Family office hours: The week before school begins, we will host office hours so you have a chance to ask questions and get all the information you need to start the school year off right.
Family Support Groups: Our Family & Community Engagement team will continue to hold support groups for families throughout the summer in order for families to continue learning from and supporting one another.
As we prepare for the 2020-21 school year, we need your input. If you haven’t yet, please complete our DREAM Reopening Survey to help us understand what our families want and need as we plan for the fall. We really need to hear from all families, so thank you in advance for taking a few minutes with this survey.

Updated Attendance Policy
As you know, we believe regular attendance at school is crucial for student learning. That is true whether we are in person or in this new virtual environment. We value the synchronous learning sessions that we have planned for your child and as much as is possible we want to ask that you prioritize your child's attendance at those sessions. We also want to make sure we are able to give your child credit for attendance on a schedule that works for your family in this challenging time.
During this period of distance learning, beginning April 14th, in order to be marked present, students must log into and/or respond to the prompt or assignment in either Class Dojo (Pre-K); SeeSaw (K-1); or Google Classroom (2-11) depending on grade. Students with zero logins on a given day will be marked absent. Additionally, teachers will take attendance during live learning sessions - it’s still important to show up, be on time, and complete all assignments. This policy mirrors our in-person attendance policy. Students are not penalized if they are unable to attend a class session because of a family obligation or a technical issue.
